Antivirus Problems

Antivirus is a popular product that has long been marketed as a regular product similar to toothbrush, detergent, or car. The popularity of antiviruses isn’t the only reason they’re popular, are not without flaws.

It’s impossible for antivirus programs to keep up with the sheer quantity and variety of new malware that is becoming developed each day. It’s a war and not every antivirus program available on the market or online can provide security close to 100 percent.

Another problem is that viruses and Trojans are able to manipulate the software running on your computer so that it is unable to detect them properly. This may happen because the virus alters the antivirus program’s settings or it’s ability to create false positives through exploiting one of its own functions or features.

Furthermore, there are a number of instances when the antivirus program does not recognize files even if they’re clearly malicious. The antivirus software hasn’t yet had the chance of adding the file to its database. To do that it must analyze the file and compare its contents with known malicious files that are in the antivirus’s database. This is a long and resource-intensive process. The more time it takes is, the less accurate the detection. Furthermore, the antivirus needs to install interceptors of system events deep within the protected computer kernel to analyze the data and pass it to its engine for analysis.
